Biography

The first concert and therefore the official beginning of their activity: 12th July 1996 – BOOM festival with the organization of “Youth-alternative-cultural-artistic-development-center M.A.K.U.R.C.” Aerodrom Slovenj Gradec.

In the first six years of their existence the band members dedicate themselves to composing of their own instrumental music, concerts at clubs and festivals throughout Slovenia and cooperating (as a support band) with various well-known musicians (Avtomobili, Lačni Franz, Skunk Funk, Josipa Lisac…) – at that time they still haven’t made their own album, because their instrumental music did not bring in enough funds for recording.

In 2001 the band takes off to the studio, records their first album “On Time” and releases it a year later on the Swiss label Membrane Records, based in Zürich, in the number of 5.000 copies. Because of the huge demand they reissue the album, so the total amount of the sold copies increases to over 8.000 copies. The album is actually sold-out!

The album and the concerts bring them a nomination for the award “Bumerang” in the category “Newcomer 2003”, among bands Elevators and Terra Folk, where the latter get the award.

After the successful presentation of the album and a promotional tour in Slovenia and Croatia, Janko Viher (Vuzenica) takes the seat of the drummer for a few concerts in 2003.

The year 2004 is dedicated for the writing and the making of new songs and recording of the second album, Retro Future. The album was recorded in the studio “R.S.L.” (Novo Mesto) and in the home studio “SG8 (SoundGate)” in Slovenj Gradec. After the success of their first album, the band entrusted the release of their second album again to the label Membrane Records yet another time.

In the beginning of September 2005 the project “Retro Future" is finished and the members of the band start with the preparations for the release and the promotional tour. The tour starts on 3rd December in Slovenj Gradcec (PTC Katica) and continues all over Slovenia and abroad.

At the end of June 2006 the band celebrates its 10th birthday and for this occasion they prepare a concert with the German “psychodelic space-rock” group Noetics from Hannover.

A guest appearance in the Netherlands follows, where the band sets out on 9th July for a week of working-vacations to celebrate their 10th anniversary and to search for new ideas. Workshop at CvA.

The Year 2007 was bound for the creation of a new album and presentations at important festivals in Slovenia and throughout Europe (Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina …). The Dates of the concerts are from February to September. (See: Gigs)

In May Jazoo have released their third studio album Detached, which was proudly presented in Slovenia and abroad. The premiere performance of their new album took place in Ravne na Koroškem, Ljubljana and Postojna. Right afterwards Jazoo got an invitation for another Greece tour. The main part of their promotional postponed to fall 2008.
